Productivity Hacks for Working From Home

productivity to do list, writing a note, writing a to do list

When I think of productivity I think of all the things that I do to make it easier on myself. Most people have a hard time staying productive throughout the day, especially when working from home.

Here are some of my favorite productivity hacks that just might help ⬇️

Write Out a To-Do List

When you first set down to get started, write out your to-do list for the day. (Or you can write it down the night before). This way you know exactly what you are hoping to accomplish.

Even if you don’t get everything done you will at least have a focus so you don’t get distracted without knowing what needs to get done.

I don’t know about you, but if I don’t have a to-do list the thought of everything that I could be doing ruins my productivity.

Set a Timer To Keep Your Productivity On Track

Decide how much time you will give to each task. Then set a timer and work until it goes off.

This will help keep you moving through your list and also make it so you don’t spend so much time on one thing and get nothing else done that day.

I like to think of it like being in school, you were in one class for a certain amount of time and when that time was up you would switch to something else until the next day.

I find that doing this has helped my productivity skyrocket.

Block Out Distractions So They Don’t Hinder Your Productivity

If you can try and block out all distractions. Turn off your notifications, shut your door, take things off your desk, etc.

The more you can keep yourself from bouncing from one thing to another the better. If you try to multi-task it usually does not go very well.

I also like to listen to white noise. This keeps me from hearing the things that are going on around me that will take my attention away from what I need to get done.

Take a Lunch Break (Away From Your Work)

Make sure to plan for a lunch break. Standing up and getting away from your desk for 30 minutes will help you reset. This way when you come back you are refreshed and ready to knock some more things off your list.

However, do NOT make your lunch and then come back to work while you eat it.

You will be more productive if you let your brain have a break and you focus on something else.

Work Somewhere New to Stay Productive

If you find that you are just not as productive as you know you can be. Try working somewhere else.

Whether you move your work to a different room in your house or you go to a coffee shop.

One of my favorite places to go to and work is our local library. I am able to sit in the quiet without the distractions of home all around me.

What are some ways you have figured out to be the most productive when working from home? Let me know in the comments!
