5 Questions to Ask When Identifying Your Ideal Client

Knowing who your ideal client is will make running your business much easier. It not only helps you tailor your messaging but also helps you narrow down exactly what your products are or what services you offer.

When identifying your ideal client, asking these 5 questions can help you narrow it down.

What is the niche you like serving?

This will help you narrow your focus down to the industry. You might like serving realtors or chefs. Or you could be a bit broader and say you like serving small business owners.

Knowing the niche you like to serve will help you really know how to tailor your message to those you are talking to. This will make it so that when people read your captions they will feel as though you are speaking directly to them.

What does your ideal client like doing outside of business?

Knowing what types of hobbies your ideal client likes will allow you to have something in common with them.

This will help when you are planning posts that might not be business related but are a little more personal for you. Knowing the type of person you like hanging out with outside of business is probably someone you would like working with within the business.

Does your ideal client have a family? Have kids? Are they freshly out of college?

Another thing to think about is what they might have some resistance from. Something that might be causing an issue.

Having a family isn’t bad, however, for a mom that is running a business and trying to do it all for her kids. Posts that might help her get organized a bit and not feel so overwhelmed would really resonate.

Think about any of the issues or struggles your ideal client might have in their lives that you can bring light to and offer some great solutions for them.

Is your ideal client a seasoned business owner or just starting out in business?

This will definitely affect how you write out your captions and what you choose to focus on.

If your ideal client just needs help getting to that next level in business and you are the perfect person for them, show them that you are the person that can get them there. You have to make sure to build authority in your niche in order to gain a seasoned business owner as a client.

If your ideal client is just starting out in business make sure you have plenty of posts teaching them the simple things that will be right up their alley. They may not know about all the little things that come with running a business. You can be the person they turn to in order to make the most of their time.

What type of personality does your ideal client have?

Is your ideal client someone that is more reserved or are they outgoing? Knowing this will really help you cover all of your bases with them.

For a client that is outgoing, creating a challenge they have to complete and getting them to comment on your posts can help you get to know them more.

For a client that is more reserved, they may like to respond to you directly in the DMs so make sure your call to action tells them exactly how to get ahold of you.

One of the best ways I have found to really figure out your ideal client is to actually make up who that person is. Write out who they are, what they like, etc. Create a whole back story so when you are writing out your copy or you are talking in your stories you can imagine this is the exact person you are speaking to.
